Okemo Mountain Snowboard Team (OMST – HD (Half Day))

*Age* 8-16

*Goal* To give Snowboarders proficiency at maintaining a line on all terrain, including Halfpipe, Slopestyle, and Alpine terrain. Holding a good form, successfully completing Freestyle and Alpine courses and having fun while being part of the team.

*Competition* Snowboarders compete in USASA Southern Vermont Series competitions throughout Vermont: Okemo, Bromley, Stratton, Mt. Snow, etc. (Must hold USASA competitor’s license)

Beginning Competitive Snowboarders are encouraged to compete in at least 2 competitions in each discipline for the season and to train at Okemo no fewer than 2 weekends per month.

Advanced Snowboarders are encouraged to Compete in all Competitions in their Venue of choice and train a minimum of 3 weekends per month, with the goal of attending USASA National Championships in the spring.

*Travel* Day trips to other mountains for competitions – coordinated by the Program Director. Parents who are available are encouraged to volunteer for driving and to come along and cheer on the athletes.

*Prerequisites* No prior competition experience necessary. Regarding Snowboarding ability, either a year in “The Program” or a coach screening at the beginning of the season is required. At this level, Snowboarders should be able to be self-motivated to get out on the mountain every day, want to have fun, want to learn how toSnowboard with good form and want to jump. Also, powder days are spent in the trees and we like to encourage all-mountain Snowboarding for all Snowboarders, with an overarching emphasis on Freestyle Snowboarding.

*Price* First Child: $1100.00; Second: $1050.00

Meeting Time and Location: 8:30am at the “Dew Zone” (unless otherwise instructed)
Drop Off Time and Location: 12:30pm at Base Area by the “B” Quad Lift.

Okemo Mountain Snowboard Team (OMST – FD (Full Day))

*Age* 9-18, though mainly dependent upon ability/experience.

*Goal* To enter into a more serious level of training and competition in Freestyle and Alpine Snowboarding; to refine and perfect Freestyle and Alpine turning, edging, absorbing, extending, body positioning and jumping skills introduced at “The Program” or Half Day level; to learn and compete with more technical air maneuvers; to accumulate points on the USASA Southern Vermont Series and National points lists, ultimately qualifying for National Championship events; and to have fun while being part of the team.
