Snowboarders – USASA National Championships – days 5+6

Day 5

Grommet Girls – Halfpipe:

Anna Valentine – 5th place
Kiersten Edwards – 6th place

Breaker Boys – Boardercross:

Colton Gray – 19th place after an amazing pass to get in third place in the first heat. In the last two turns, Colton turned early and passed the third place rider and was barely holding on. As they came over the last two jumps their boards were hitting each other and then Colton fell in front of the other rider to garner third. In his next heat he got left behind, but that first heat will be indelibly imprinted in my memory.

Day 6

Grommet Girls – Slopestyle:

Kiersten Edwards – 3rd place
Anna Valentine – 5th place

For those who compete in all 5 events there is an Overall award given and let me tell you this is well deserved, because doing all events is exhausting.

Kiersten Edwards has received the 2nd place Overall award this year for the Group 2 Grommet Girls.

Hey Everyone

Last weekend was awesome we had great training all weekend and it showed on Sunday when we went and dominated Quechee. We have a pretty busy schedule this coming week so I am going throw it out at you.

Thursday the 28th has changed we were originallygoing to be able to hook in with the J1-2-3s but looking out for the safety of the kids this would not be a good idea seeing as we are starting lower on the trail. No Council kids will be able to train on Chief on Thursday.  So this being said we will met at the Yurt at 9:30 to free ski for a few hours on our Super G skis. When the J1-2-3s get off of Chief at 10:30 we will be able to go on and free ski the trail and get all of the terrain down. Sorry for the inconvenience but it’s for the safetyof the kids that we do not train in the morning with the old boy’s and girl’s.

Friday-Training run to begin at 9:30 am. Race start at roughly 11:00 am.Coaches meeting is at top of Start at 9:00 am.NO MOVEMENT ON HILL DURING TRAINING RUN AND RACE! 4-Runners will go at 9:20 am and again at start of Race Run.

Trail is Chief
Start is positioned 100 yards up from Tower 13.
Finish is at the “GS” Finish or on flats of Chief.

The TD is Gregg Gill.
Referee is Bernard Haskell from Quechee
Asst Ref is to be determined
Chief of Race is John Pawlak
Chief of Course is Pete Cornish.
Registration is at 7:15 in the competition center. We are still looking for volunteers!! Registration,Bibs, Course Crew!
Saturday- Meet at the Yurt at 9:00. We will free ski on our GS skis for a few runs and then train from 10:30 until 1:30 on Wardance( trying to get Chief).
