Devo Info – Training Friday and Quechee Saturday

Hi All,

GREAT day at Middlebury this past Sunday!  Awesome job by the kids and, wow, was the weather ever beautiful!

I will send a race re-cap later this week, as well as Pico Sunburst Open information.  On that topic – last chance for sending me entries for the Sunburst Open.  Also, if you have decided that your child can’t make it and you already told me to register them, please let me know so that I can pull them from the race.

Friday:
For those who aren’t afraid of the truancy officer, join us for a fun training day on Friday, March 12th in preparation for Finals.  We will meet at the Yurt at 9 am and train until about 12/12:30pm.  Just a long morning session since the snow is getting very soft in the afternoon these days and it might “r^%$” on Friday.  Nevertheless, we will get in 3 solid hours of good training – we will take some free runs and will train GS on Wardance. Then it will be time for some rest for the big day!

Saturday:

The big Ross Series Finals at Quechee Mountain!  Remember that all Devo (Ross to the rest of the MVC) racers go to finals – so all of your children are entered!  It is a really fun day and our chance to take the boot home for the summer!!!!!!!

Here are the details:
Registration is in the basement of the base lodge from 7:30-8:30 am.  The entry fee for the race is $25.

Parent tickets will be sold for $22 and child tickets for $18.  You do not need to ski to view the race.

We will meet the kids at 8:25 am in front of the base lodge to go for free runs and inspection.

The first run starts at 9:45 am and the second run will start about 5 minutes after the completion of the first.  This is a BIG race numbers-wise, but please help your children budget their time accordingly to get around for their second run on time.

There will be a raffle and BBQ at the end of the race before the awards.  There will also be a Nordica demo tent set up with next year’s junior race demos – great chance to try before you buy!

Directions to Quechee:
Take 100 North (the right hand turn before Jackson Gore).  In Plymouth, take a right onto 100A.  When this dead ends at Rt 4, take a right.  This will go through Bridgewater and Woodstock – watch for cops in both towns! The speed limit goes down to 25 twice – obey the speed limit.  Once you have passed though Woodstock, continue a few miles into Taftsville and look for a left that will take you to a covered bridge – the street name is either River Rd. or Quechee Main Street.  You will take this left (it is across from the General Store) and go through the covered bridge.  Then bear right and follow Quechee Main Street until you see the resort on the left hand side.  Parking is on the left – either by the barns or after the white building, which is the base lodge.

Jackets:
I am really hoping to have the jackets for Finals.  I know that you may have expected them earlier, but as I mentioned in doing it we were a little late in the season with the order, but I figured good to get them made this year and then we have them next year and just have to fill in with new kids.  They were custom made to our order, so that is why it has taken a while since placing the order.  If I am going to have them by Friday, I will let you know arrangements for how to pick them up that day.  Leftovers will be brought to Quechee.  The final cost is $98 and checks can be made payable to Lori Ford Custom Outdoor Gear.

That’s all for now!  Looking forward to Saturday!!!

Thanks,
Mariel
